USY and Kadima Are Going Paintballing! – Sept 26th

JOIN USY AND KADIMA FOR AN EXCITING KICKOFF EVENT: PAINTBALLING!

When: Sunday, September 26th from 11:30AM – 5:45PM.
Who: Kadimaniks (6th-8th graders) and USYers (9th-12th graders)
Where: We’ll meet at Temple Beth El at 11:30AM and carpool to Liberty Paintball.
Cost: $45 per person for USY/Kadima members. $55 for non-members. Download a membership form here. Members receive discounts on ALL youth events for the year.

(Price includes gun rental, mask, goggles and 500 paintballs. Bring extra money if you want to rent a camo suit for $5 or if you want to buy more paint for $7 per 100 balls.)

** We are looking for parents to help carpool to the paintball field in Liberty, NY. If you are willing to drive please email Ariela at programdir@tbe.org. Any parent willing to drive earns 1 free paintball ticket, meaning that parent or someone of their choosing can play for FREE. **

Things to bring/wear:

• Bring a sack lunch, water bottle and any other drinks.
• Bring a change of clothing for the ride home. (Note that the paint DOES wash out.)
• Do not wear an orange or red shirt. (Camo colors are best, but not required.)
• Do not wear open toed shoes

Red Cross Babysitting Class – Sept 12th

Temple Beth El is putting together a list of trained babysitters that will be made available to TBE families with children. Get on our list by taking a Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course at TBE on Sunday, September 12th, 2010 from  12:15PM to 7:15PM.

What you need to know and what every parent wants in a safe and responsible babysitter!

This Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course can help you -

- Care for children and infants.
- Be a good leader and role model.
- Perform basic child-care skills such as diapering, feeding and dressing.
- Make good decisions and solve problems.
- Keep the children you baby-sit and yourself safe
- Handle emergencies such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents.
- Write resumes and interview for jobs.
- And much more!

USY Dinner & A Movie – Clash of the Titans – April 11th

USY is going out for a night on the town! We’ll meet for a pizza dinner at Remos Brick Oven Pizza then head to the movies at either the Majestic or Landmark theater where we’ll be seeing Clash of the Titans.

Who: 8th Grade Kadimaniks & USY members (9th-12th grade)

USY Philly Trip! May 28-May 31

USY is going to Philadelphia during Memorial Day Weekend!

Friday, May 28th – Monday, May 31st.

Our USY chapter has been invited for a teen exchange weekend as the guests of the youth activities program in Elkins Park, PA. (outside of Philadelphia). We will leave from Beth El via motor coach on Friday morning at 7:00 am and return in the afternoon on Monday, May 31. We are limiting this trip to 30 students. The trip will be led by Al Treidel, Director of Jewish Life Education, and at least 3 adult chaperones.

Please fill out the form and return it with your check made payable to Temple Beth El to the Education Office. There is a lot of interest in the trip.  If you want to be included in the Elkins Park trip register now!

Trip Details: We expect to arrive in Philadelphia in the mid-morning to do some touring and will arrive in Elkins Park at Congregation Agudath Jeshuran in the late afternoon. We will be housed by host families and while we are there, Agudath Jeshuran will assume responsibility for housing and most of the meals. In Elkins Park, we will participate in a Shabbaton experience in conjunction with several area USY chapters. A very exciting  Saturday night mystery program with a number of area teens is planned and on Sunday, we will visit Ocean City, NJ where our teens and their hosts will visit the Boardwalk followed by a Sunday night regional dance.  A more complete weekend schedule and itinerary will follow at a later date. This trip promises to be as exciting or even more exciting than last year’s Toronto trip.

Please note that the registration fee only covers the bus charter and most activities associated with the trip. The costs of food while traveling to and from Pennsylvania, touring in Philadelphia and Ocean City and any spending money while touring will be assumed by the student.

Join USY and Kadima for a joint event at Rip Van Winkle Lanes in Norwalk. Bowling, pizza, fun!

USY is throwing a Hanukkah Party on December 12th at TBE! 8th – 12th graders are invited to join USY for food, music, games and tons of fun! Wear Red if you are “taken” Yellow if if “its complicated” and Green if you are “free”!

USY Is Going to See Chicago City Limits!

USY is going on a NYC trip to see Chicago City Limits, an improv comedy show. We’ll catch a train at Stamford station around 5:00PM, stop for a quick bite in the city, then head to the comedy center to see an 8PM show. Space is limited so be sure to RSVP sooner rather than later!

Note: You must RSVP to receive specific times for meeting at the train station!

Who: USYers (9th-12th grade)

When: Saturday, Nov 21st with an approx. meeting time of 5:00PM (RSVP for specific travel info).

Where: We’ll meet at Stamford train station. You should be picked up there too.

Cost: $55 for USY Members / $75 for non-members.
Price includes comedy tickets, 2 soft drinks at the show, train and subway fare. Please bring extra cash for dinner in the city.

Kadima Sleepover at TBE

Kadima is having an election day sleepover at TBE. Color war, movies, cookie decorating, sundaes, t-shirt tie dyeing – it’s going to be a fun night. Bring your own white t-shirt for tie dyeing!
