Temple Beth El Men’s Club
Men’s Club takes a strong role in perpetuating Jewish rituals by presenting the annual World Wide Wrap – a seminar in the use of tefillin. B’nai Mitzvah students are joined by members of the congregation for explanation and instruction in performance of this great mitzvah.
Men’s Club oversees the assembly and disassembly of the bimah for the High Holidays each year, as well as the Temple’s sukkah. A Shabbat luncheon is served by Men’s Club on Sisterhood Shabbat.
Two scholarship grants towards college are offered to Jewish, graduating high school seniors by Men’s Club annually. They are the Edward J. Kaplin Memorial Scholarship and the Eve K. Kaplin Memorial Scholarship.
Men’s Club sponsors a very successful career networking program throughout the year.

Topic: To Seek a Newer World: Lessons for the Obama Administration
Mark will review the reasons why the Arab world has evolved as it has and why American foreign policy in the Middle East has led from one disaster to another since the Iranian Revolution. He will also update us on the latest developments regarding Iran and the potential Israeli response.

Mark is the Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Northeastern Pennsylvania, but in his other life, he is an internationally recognized author, scholar and lecturer on the Middle East and Islam. He is an attorney, a former member of the Justice Department, a past Director of the Canadian Jewish Congress, and a member of Hadassah’s National Academic Advisory Board.
In addition to being the author of “The Quartermasters of Terror: Saudi Arabia and the Global Islamic Jihad”, (one of the seminal books out today on the silent role Saudi Arabia plays in funding and spreading radical Islam throughout America and around the world) and a prolific writer with over 360 published articles to his credit, he is recognized as a world-class foreign policy analyst specializing in the Middle East, and publishes through the Hudson Institute in New York, and with the Ariel Center for Policy Research in Israel.He is also a Contributing Editor for Arutz Sheva (Israel National News), the New Media Journal (out of Chicago), Family Security Matters and his articles have appeared in American Thinker, the Middle East Times, China Confidential; Israel Insider; Intelligence Summit; and many other journals including Midstream and Outpost Magazines.
During the late 1980s, Mark served as a foreign policy consultant to the Secretary General of the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem during the first Palestinian Intifada, and has lectured extensively at many universities here and abroad including the University of Tel Aviv, the University of Florida (Gainesville), the University of Delaware (Wilmington) and East Stroudsburg University.

Carole Hyatt
Carole Hyatt has been addressing career subjects in her best-selling books, lecture tours, and television appearances for the past 35 years. She is an acknowledged leader in the work field. Her books, The New Woman’s Selling Game, Shifting Gears, When Smart People Fail, and Lifetime Employability have helped millions of people throughout the world effectively identify and accomplish their goals. Her works have been reviewed as seminal and she is frequently quoted in the media. Carole’s Leadership Forum seminars are attended worldwide by top executive women from diverse fields who are interested in assessing and advancing their careers. Her workshop attendees have benefited from the support and skill she provides though an analysis of their needs and examination of alternative means of meeting them. Ms. Hyatt is a powerful facilitator and conducts focus and ideation groups for Fortune 500 companies.

Research
With her late partner, June Esserman, in association with Dan Yankelovich, she founded the first market and social behavior research company in America to specialize in the youth area. The firm later expanded and pioneered documenting the affects of women moving into the workforce. Their innovative methodologies were pivotal in the research arena and are still being utilized today. The company was acquired by McCollum Spielman Research in 1986.
Arts Education
Carole was the co-founder and artistic director of The Peppermint Players, one of the first children’s theaters in New York City. The company performed in four off-Broadway theaters, Town Hall, and toured the eastern seaboard. She was a founding member of the Children’s Theatre Association. The Peppermint Players’ repertoire sold over one million records on the Peter Pan label. McGraw Hill distributed the repertoire on film worldwide. Carole was also one of the first women to produce for television and won an Emmy for her children’s one-hour specials on CBS TV where she introduced Jim Henson, along with other luminaries, to TV.
Education and Boards of Directors
Carole is a member of the board of directors and advisory of numerous organizations and start-up corporations. She has served on the International Women’s Forum where she was Vice President in charge of Global Development. She served on the Women’s Leadership Board of the JFK School of Government at Harvard University and the Avon Women of Enterprise Board. She has also served of the faculties of The New School for Social Research, Hunter Graduate School, New York University and The Woman’s School, and lectures in colleges and universities worldwide. She currently serves on the executive committee of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Mass., Aston Magna Baroque Music Festival in Great Barrington, Mass, and on the boards of scores of women-owned start-up business corporations.
Mentoring
Carole Hyatt has had a lifelong interest in mentoring women and has served as a model for women aspiring to leadership roles throughout the world. She works with high-powered executives and has been called “the guru’s guru”. She travels worldwide leading workshops that inspire and motivate both women and men to lead fulfilling work lives. The Carole Hyatt Success Center in Tokyo existed for fourteen years during the Japanese bubble.
Bettina Seidman
Bettina Seidman is an experienced career management coach and outplacement consultant and in 1990 founded her own firm, SEIDBET Associates, offering customized career counseling, professional coaching, and outplacement consulting services to individuals and groups in corporate and nonprofit organizations. As an independent career coach, Bettina has developed and conducted workshops and partnered individual clients in development of successful career and job search strategies. She also coaches clients in improving presentation, negotiation, and political skills. She has expertise working with clients in professions and industries including law, financial services, technology, direct marketing, retailing, engineering, graphic arts, and entertainment, and in the nonprofit sector in healthcare and advocacy organizations.
Bettina has worked with national outplacement firms managing career centers, counseling senior level candidates, and conducting job transition workshops. She currently consults to The Ayers Group, a major metropolitan area outplacement firm.
Before devoting her time exclusively to career management consulting, Bettina worked in the field of human resources and labor relations in corporate and nonprofit organizations.
Bettina has developed and conducted workshops including: Developing Career Resiliency, Career Management Awareness, Over 40? – How Will it Affect Your Job Search, Negotiating the Best Package on your Next Job, Best Networking Practices, and Resumes for the New Millenium. She is a frequent public speaker and panelist with engagements including National Investor Relations Institute, CCC/Wall Street Journal Interactive, NYSAE, Fifty Plus Expo, Women in Direct Marketing, New York City Public Library Career Seminar Series, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church Job Hunt Series, and The New York City and New Jersey Bar Associations.
Bettina has written for newspapers and online services on the subject of careers. She has recently been featured in Smart Money, Enterprise Management Magazine, the AICHE Journal, Graduating Engineer & Computer Careers, The Los Angeles Times, and Newsday, and has appeared on Oxygen Cable TV and in several radio interviews. Recently, she was a featured speaker for NY Society for Administration Executives We Love New York Day and at Pink Slip Boot Camp at The Learning Annex. Bettina has been a part-time Instructor at New York University, Marymount Manhattan College, and Baruch College, and has presented seminars and workshops at City University Law School and Queens College.
In addition to holding an MBA in Industrial Psychology, a BA in Psychology, a Certificate in Labor Relations, Bettina has completed training in career assessment and career coaching. She is Myers-Briggs Qualified, Certified in 360 Feedback, has studied masterful coaching with Robert Hargrove, and has recently completed the PeopleSmart training. She keeps her knowledge and skills up-to-date through involvement in many professional organizations. Bettina is a Board Member of the New York Association of Career Management Professionals (NYACMP), Corporate Secretary and Founding Member of the Career Counselors Consortium (CCC), Co-Chair Speaker’s Bureau New York Chapter International Coaching Federation, and a member of Association for Psychological Type (APT), Career Development Specialists Network (CDSN), and American Women’s Ecomonic Development Corporation (AWED). Bettina is a native of New York City and is active in her community.
Eileen Sharaga
Eileen Sharaga, B.S., M.A., is President of Career Resources and a recognized authority on career development and employment trends. As a career counselor, consultant and educator, Ms. Sharaga works with individuals, businesses and professionals in all aspects of career planning and management.
The depth of her work comes from her own personal experience as she has made 6 career transitions in 6 different industries, which include advertising, marketing, finance, technology, education and several years as an executive recruiter.
With a Masters degree in counseling and career development plus two decades of experience in business and industry Ms. Sharaga provides a unique perspective in navigating today’s complex career issues. Her corporate background includes 10 years as an Executive Recruiter in the advertising and marketing industry, Product Manager for Revlon, Executive Director of a national trade association, National Marketing Director of a telecommunications company and Career Consultant at Right Management, an international outplacement firm.
Recognized as an expert on career and workplace issues, she has delivered over 300 speeches and workshops to corporations, professional associations, alumni associations and civic groups. These include: Harvard, Yale and Princeton Universities, Association of Management Consultants, IBM, American Marketing Association, Greater New York Hospital Association, Society of Engineers, Ad Club of N.Y., Women in Communications, New York Hall of Science, Society for Marketing Professionals, Security and Exchange Commission, Women’s Media Association, N.Y. C. Board of Education.
Ms. Sharaga has been on the faculty of Parson’s School of Design, Long Island University, The CUNY Research Foundation, Marymount College, The New School University, La Guardia Community College, Touro College and American Women in Economic Development.
Writing extensively on career management issues, she has written by-line articles featured in Marketing Review, Chemical Engineering Progress, Women’s Business, and quoted in the Wall St. Journal, Working Today and The New York Times.
