  • PLAY

Let’s consider the play experiences we provide for our infants and toddlers…We all want to provide our youngest preschool children with experiences that foster healthy play and development.  Quality play is vital for our children’s growth and there are many ways that we can help support it in a preschool environment and at home.  But first...Why is quality play so important? Quality play promotes language and healthy brain development and the mechanism for future reading and writing success in school. And how about creativity? You must take a look at this fabulous book I found: Our Grandparents: A Global Album, by Maya Ajmera, Sheila Kinkade, and Cynthia Pon. It’s absolutely fabulous for

TOY SAFETY FOR OUR YOUNGEST CHILDREN

When selecting toys, it is critical to consider the numerous safety issues specific to different developmental stages. Choking and falling are two concerns for infants and toddlers. Children love to move, and young children learning to control their bodies often fall or bump into things. Toys should not have sharp edges or projections.Infants and toddlers often explore their world by putting things in their mouths.Small buttons or pieces that come off easily are choking hazards and should be avoided. Watch out for chipping paint, and select toys that are not toxic. Be on the lookout for
