Beth El Teens
Beth El Teens (BET) is Temple Beth El’s youth group and is comprised of students in grades 7 through 12. The teens plan and implement all of their own activities.
The BET leadership team meets approximately once a month, September through May, to discuss, decide upon, plan and implement the social, community service, educational and ritual programming that our teens engage in throughout the school year.
For example, BET’s social activities might involve an overnight in our youth lounge, bowling, trips to movies, or going out to dinner or to the theater. Community service projects might include preparing and serving cookies at a local assisted living facility, participating in the Stamford Jewish Community Center’s annual Super Sunday and Community Mitzvah Day, marching in the city’s annual Israel Independence Day celebration, or helping the needy in a variety of ways. Our teens also gather together to celebrate holidays, share a Shabbat meal or lead a special Shabbat service.
Beth El Teens also runs the synagogue’s annual Purim carnival, from which all proceeds are invested back into the youth program.
